The British Tamils Forum (BTF) celebrated Thai Pongal and Tamil Heritage month in the British Parliament on Monday,15 January 2024. Upon receiving overwhelming support from the British Tamil community including youth, charities, and business entrepreneurs, the demand for attending the celebration was exceptionally high, and the BTF had to have the celebration in two different halls, CPA Room and the Churchill Room in the UK Parliament to accommodate attendees for the event. The BTF received unparalleled support from cross-party Parliamentarians from Conservative, Labour, LibDem, SNP and DUP in the function. The BTF conveys its sincere gratitude to all the Parliamentarians for facilitating and participating in the hugely successful event.

Several Members of Parliament, Mayors, Councilors and Lord John Mann participated in the event and shared their greetings and wishes with the Tamil people while enjoying the Tamil cultural celebration and traditional food. While appreciating and congratulating Tamil people for their high-spirited passion for their heritage and language, majority of them did not fail to recall the atrocities that Tamil people faced during the genocidal war in Sri Lanka. The majority pledged their continued support for justice for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, and paved the way for a permanent political solution for Tamil people in Sri Lanka to live in peace and harmony with equal rights.

The celebration was exquisite and grand. Folk dances, plays, and musical performances were presented by several beautifully and colourfully dressed children of various ages from different parts of the United Kingdom. These children were honoured with certificates as a token of appreciation for the passion of their own heritage. The BTF sincerely offers their gratitude to the parents and teachers for their diligence and support.

The BTF took this opportunity to honour the charities - Serendip Children's Homes, The Federation of Saiva (Hindu) temples UK and Ray of Hope People appreciating their devoted volunteering work to the community.

Being a regular advocate on Tamil peoples’ plight, Theresa Villiers wished Tamil people, including those in Sri Lanka, for a bright future this Thai Pongal day. Further, by referring to the Tamil culture being older than the European culture and praising the British Tamils in the NHS and other industries expressed her sadness and anger on seeing the Sri Lankan state trying to walk away from its obligations of the UNHRC resolutions.

Steve Tuckwell – MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip

Steve Tuckwell said Thai Pongal celebration was a highlight of his day, praising Tamil people’s contributions to the United Kingdom.

Gareth Thomas – MP for Harrow West, Strong ally of Harrow Tamil community which forms a third of his constituency.

Gareth Thomas is an ardent supporter for the Tamil cause from the outset, ascertained his continued campaign in parliament to bring the perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide to justice. He expressed concern for the European Parliament relaxing the GSP+ concession to Sri Lanka despite Sri Lanka’s human rights records being below the norm. Referring to the sanctions imposed by the United States and Canada, Gareth assured that he would push the Labour Party to do the same in time to come.

Elliot Colburn - MP for Carshalton and Wallington, Chair of the APPG for Tamils

Elliot Colburn, upon wishing happy Thai Pongal to all on behalf of the APPG for Tamils and thanking British Tamils for their contribution in the NHS as well as public services and other places, extended his support for continuously fighting for justice for Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The Rt Hon Sir Ed Davey - MP for Kingston and Surbiton, Liberal Democrat Leader, Vice Chair of APPG for Tamils who accompanied & lobbied along with BTF in UNHRC Geneva and European Parliament Brussels on numerous occasions for justice and accountability.

Sir Ed Davey, after praising Kingston Institute of Culture in his constituency for its excellent work, continued his commitment in pushing the UK government, using the coalition of cross-party support, to follow the steps of the government of Canada to sanction against the perpetrators of atrocity crimes and for ensuring justice for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

The Rt Hon Sir Stephen Timms - MP for East Ham, Vice Chair of APPG for Tamils, an incredible supporter of Tamils, visited UNHRC with the BTF numerous times lobbying for justice and accountability for Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Sir Stephen Timms, upon signifying the suffering that Tamil people are undergoing by the war, economic collapse, enforced disappearances, and the impunity allowing the authorities to get away from their crimes, stated that an efficient independent inquiry on what happened to the Tamil people in Sri Lanka is a must.

James Murray – MP for Ealing North, Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury

James Murray, expressing his desire to have “Tamil Heritage Month” in January, and admiring Tamil peoples’ contribution to the British economy, expressed his apprehension that fifteen years lapsed without finding accountability and justice for the victims of war crime, crimes against humanity and genocide.

யேர்மனியிலே 100க்கு மேற்பட்ட தமிழாலயங்களை அமைத்து நெறிப்படுத்திவரும் தமிழ்க் கல்விக் கழகம் தென்மேற்கு மாநிலத்தில் 34ஆவது அகவை நிறைவு விழாவை 20.04.2024 சனிக்கிழமையன்று எஸ்லிங்கன் நகரில் தமிழ்மொழி, கலை, பண்பாடு என்பவற்றை ஊட்டிவரும் செயற்பாட்டில் இணைந்து பயணிக்கும் அனைவரையும் அழைத்துச் சிறப்போடு கொண்டாடியது.

மூதூர் பிரதேச செயலகத்திற்குட்பட்ட நல்லூரில் வாழும் பழங்குடியின மக்கள் பல்வேறு பிரச்சினைகளை எதிர்கொண்டுள்ள நிலையில் அவர்களது உரிமைகள் பாதுகாக்கப்படுவதை உறுதிப்படுத்த உடனடியாக விசேட குழுவொன்றை நியமிக்க திருகோணமலை அரசாங்க அதிபருக்கு கிழக்கு மாகாண ஆளுநர் செந்தில் தொண்டமான் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார். நல்லூரைச் சேர்ந்த பழங்குடியின மக்கள் அண்மையில் திருகோணமலையில் உள்ள ஆளுநர் செயலகத்தில் நல்லூரில் தங்களின் வாழ்வாதார அச்சுறுத்தலுக்கு உள்ளாகியுள்ளமை குறித்து கிழக்கு ஆளுநரிடம் முறைப்பாடு செய்திருந்தனர்.

தமிழினம் புலம்பெயர்ந்து உலகெங்கும் பரந்து வாழும் சூழலில், தமது அடையாளத்தை அடுத்த தலைமுறை தொலைத்துவிடாதிருக்க தாய்மொழியைக் கற்பித்தல் அவசியம் என்ற உயர்சிந்தனையின் விளைவாகத் தமிழர்கள் புலம்பெயர்ந்து வாழும் நாடுகளில் தமிழ்மொழியைக் கற்பிக்கும் செயற்பாடுகள் நடைபெற்று வருகின்றன. யேர்மனியிலும் தமிழ்க் கல்விக் கழகம் 100க்கு மேற்பட்ட தமிழாலயங்களை அமைத்துத் தமிழ்மொழி, கலை, பண்பாடு என்பவற்றை ஊட்டிவரும் செயற்பாட்டில் 34 ஆண்டுகளைத் தொட்டுநிற்கிறது.

செங்கலடி இலுப்படிச்சேனையில் உள்ளுர் தொழில் முயற்சியாளர்களை மேம்படுத்தும் நோக்கில் வர்த்தக நிலையங்களை கிழக்கு மாகாண ஆளுநர் செந்தில் தொண்டமான் திறந்து வைத்தார். 22 மில்லியன் ரூபா செலவில் நிர்மாணிக்கப்பட்ட கிராமிய வர்த்தக நிலையங்கள் மக்கள் பாவனைக்காக கையளிக்கப்பட்டது.

விவசாயிகள் மத்தியில் பழச் செய்கையை ஊக்குவிக்கும் நோக்கில் மாதுளை சேகரிப்பு மற்றும் பதப்படுத்தும் நிலையத்தை ஏறாவூர் பற்று பிரதேசத்தில் கிழக்கு மாகாண ஆளுநர் செந்தில் தொண்டமானால் திறந்து வைக்கப்பட்டது. விவசாயிகளின் விளைச்சலை அதிகரிப்பதற்காக விவசாயச் சங்கங்களுக்கு விவசாய உபகரணங்களையும், மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்ட விவசாயிகளுக்கும் உபகரணங்களையம் ஆளுநர் வழங்கி வைத்தார்.

140 மில்லியன் ரூபா செலவில் நிர்மாணிக்கப்பட்ட மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்டத்தின் வவுணதீவு வீதி கிழக்கு மாகாண ஆளுநர் செந்தில் தொண்டமானால் திறந்து வைக்கப்பட்டதுடன், மக்கள் பாவனைக்காக கையளிக்கப்பட்டது. இந்நிகழ்வில் இராஜாங்க அமைச்சர் வியாழேந்திரன்,கிழக்கு மாகாண வீதி அபிவிருத்தி அமைச்சின் செயலாளர் கோபாலரத்தினம் உட்பட அரச அதிகாரிகள் கலந்துக்கொண்டனர்.

கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவையின் மகளிர் தின கொண்டாட்டங்கள் மார்ச் 24, 2024 அன்று இடம்பெற்றது. இந்நிகழ்வானது கனடாவில் உள்ள தமிழ் சமூகத்திற்குள்ளும் அதற்கு அப்பாலும் பெண்களின் குறிப்பிடத்தக்க சாதனைகள் மற்றும் பங்களிப்புகளைக் கொண்டாடும் வகையில் அமைந்திருந்தது. பாரம்பரிய மங்கள விளக்கு ஏற்றுதல் கலாச்சார முக்கியத்துவத்துடன் ஆரம்பமான நிகழ்வு கனேடிய தேசிய கீதம் மற்றும் தமிழ் தாய் வாழ்த்து பாடுவதன் மூலம் நமது இரட்டை பாரம்பரியத்தையும் கலாச்சாரங்களின் இணக்கமான கலவையையும் பிரதிபலித்து தொடர்ந்தது.

யேர்மனியில் ஆண்டுதோறும் வாகைமயில் என்னும் நடனப்போட்டியைத் தமிழ்ப் பெண்கள் அமைப்பு நடத்தி வருவது யாவரும் அறிந்ததே. இம்முறை டோட்முன்ட் நகரில் 16.03.24 சனி, 17.03.24 ஞாயிறு ஆகிய இரண்டு நாள்களும் தெரிவுப்போட்டிகளின்றி நிறைவுப்போட்டியாகப் பதினொரு ஆண்டுகளை நிறைவு செய்தபடி வாகைமயில் வெகு சிறப்பாகத் தோகை விரித்தாடியது. யேர்மனியில் உள்ள நடன ஆசிரியர்களால் பயிற்றப்பட்ட அவர்களின் மாணவ மாணவிகள் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் மிஞ்சிய வகையில் களம் கண்டனர். இவர்கள் அற்புதமான பதங்களுடன் பல வண்ணங்கள் உடுத்தித் தேர்போல (இரதங்கள்) அழகாக அசைந்து, மிதமான அணிகளோடு அவையில் இதமான பரதத்தால் நவரசம் தந்தது மண்டபம் நிறைந்த மக்களின் வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றிருந்தது. பிரான்சு, சுவிற்சலாந்து ஆகிய நாடுகளிலிருந்து வருகை தந்திருந்த திறமையும் பட்டறிவும்(அனுபவம்) வாய்ந்த நடுவர்களால் போட்டிகள் நடுவம் செய்யப்பட்டு, மதிப்பளிப்புகளும் வாகைமயில் விருதுகளும் வழங்கப்பட்டன.

COYLE அல்லது இளம் இலங்கை தொழில் முனைவோர் பேரவையின் ரஜத ஜெயந்தி மாபெரும் மாநாடு நேற்று (10) ஹில்டன் ஹோட்டலில் நடைபெற்றது. இந்த ஆண்டு மாநாடு 25 வது முறையாக நடைபெற்றது. COYLE அல்லது இளம் இலங்கை தொழில் முனைவோர் பேரவை மார்ச் 10, 1999 இல் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டது. "இன்றிலிருந்து முழு மனதுடன் தயாராவோம்" என்பதே இந்த ஆண்டு ரஜத ஜெயந்தியின் கருப்பொருளாக அமைந்துள்ளது.

இன்று, தமிழர்களாகிய எங்கள் ஒரே ஆயுதம், கல்வி. அதேபோல் எங்கள் ஒரே சிந்தனை தமிழ் ஒற்றுமை. இந்த இரண்டு கொள்கைகளையும் முன்னெடுத்து, கனடா தமிழர் பேரவை, அமெரிக்கா முதல் ஐரோப்பா, ஆசியா ஊடாக ஆஸ்திரேலியா வரை உலகம் முழுக்க பரவி, விரவி வாழ்கின்ற தமிழருக்கு, முன்மாதிரியாக நின்று வழி காட்டி உள்ளது. இந்த இரு கொள்கைகளின் அடையாளமாகவே, இங்கே இன்று இந்த மலையக தமிழரினுள் வரும் பெருந்தோட்ட பிள்ளைகள் பயிலும், தெஹியோவிற்ற தமிழ் மகாவித்தியாலய விஞ்ஞானகூடம் கட்டப்பட மற்றும் உபகரணங்கள் வழங்க, கனடா மற்றும் அமெரிக்கா வாழ் தமிழர்கள் மத்தியில் நிதி சேகரித்து, கனடா தமிழர் பேரவை சாதித்து காட்டியுள்ளது என தமிழ் முற்போக்கு கூட்டணி தலைவரும், கொழும்பு மாவட்ட நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினருமான மனோ கணேசன் கூறியுள்ளார்.

1993ஆம் ஆண்டு மாமனிதர் இரா. நாகலிங்கம் ஐயா அவர்களினால் வித்திடப்பட்ட தமிழ்த்திறன் போட்டி, தமிழ்க் கல்விக் கழகத்தின்; வரலாற்றுத் தடங்களில் தனக்கெனத் தனிச்சிறப்புடன் வெற்றி நடைபோட்டு வருகிறது. தமிழாலயங்களில் தமிழ் பயின்றுவரும் மாணவர்களில் மொழித்திறனாளர்கள், உரையாற்றளாளர்கள், கட்டுரைத்திறனாளிகள், வரைஞர்கள் போன்ற வளமிக்க ஆற்றலாளர்களைக் கண்டறிவதும் அவர்களைச் சிறந்தவர்களாக உருவாக்குவதும் தமிழ்த்திறன் போட்டியின் இலக்காகக் கொண்டு ஆண்டுதோறும் நடாத்தப்பட்டுவருகிறது.

02.03.2024 அன்று யேர்மனியின் தமிழ்க் கலவிக்கழகத்தினால் முன்சன்கிளட்பாக் நகரில் நடாத்தப்பட்ட தமிழ்த்திறன் போட்டியின் முப்பாதவது அகவை நிறைவு விழாவின் போது யேர்மனியின் தமிழர் ஒருங்கிணைப்புக்குழுவினால் சிறப்பு மதிப்பு நிகழ்வு ஒழுங்குசெய்யப்பட்டிருந்தது.

இன்று முதல் ஒன்ராறியோ பொதுப்போக்குவத்துச் சேவையில் 'ஒற்றைக்கட்டண' திட்டம் அமுலுக்கு வருகின்றது. இன்று தொடக்கம் ரொறன்ரோ பொதுப்போக்குவரத்துச் சேவை (TTC) மற்றும் ரொறன்ரோ பெரும்பாகத்திலுள்ள 'கோ' (GO) போக்குவரத்துச் சேவை உட்பட இத்திட்டத்தில் பங்குபற்றும் அனைத்து சேவைகளுக்குமிடையில் பயணிக்கும் பயணிகள் ஒருமுறை மட்டும் கட்டணம் செலுத்தினால் போதும். இது பற்றி ஒன்ராறியோ முதல்வர் டக் ஃபோர்ட் அவர்கள் “ஒன்ராறியோ அரசானது, அனைத்து போக்குவரத்துப் பயணிகளுக்கும் அவர்களின் சொந்தப் பணத்தை சேமித்து மீண்டும் அவர்களுக்குத் திருப்பிக் கொடுக்கின்றது" என கூறுகின்றார்.

எழுத்தாளர் கலாநிதி மேழிக் குமரனின் எழுபது அகவையையும் ஐம்பதாண்டு இலக்கிய பயணத்தையும் முன்னிட்டு இரு நூல்கள் வெளியீட்டு நிகழ்வு (25.02.2024) காலை 9 மணிக்கு வவுனியா நகரசபை கலாச்சார மண்டபத்தில் பிரமாண்டமாக நடைபெற்றது. வவுனியா தமிழ்ச் சங்கத்தின் நிறுவுனர், தமிழருவி த.சிவகுமாரன் தலைமையில் நடைபெற்ற இந்த நிகழ்வில் பிரதம விருந்தினராக வவுனியா பல்கலைக் கழகத்தின் துணைவேந்தர் த.மங்களேஸ்வரன், சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களாக ஈழமக்கள் புரட்சிகர விடுதலை முன்னணியின் தலைவர் சுரேஸ் பிரேமச்சந்திரன், கல்வி அமைச்சின் ஓய்வு நிலை மேலதிக செயலாளர் உடுவை எஸ்.தில்லை நடராஜா, கௌரவ விருந்தினர்களாக வவுனியா தேசிய கல்வியற் கல்லூரியின் ஓய்வு நிலை பீடாதிபதி க.பேர்ணாட், ஈழ மக்கள் புரட்சிகர விடுதலை முன்னணியின் செயலாளர் ந.சிவசக்தி ஆனந்தன், இலக்கியவாதிகள்,சமூக ஆர்வலர்கள்,திணைக்கள உத்தியோகத்தர்கள் பொதுமக்கள் என பலரும் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

கடந்த திங்கட்கிழமையன்று, ஒன்ராறியோ முதல்வர் டக் ஃபோர்டும் போக்குவரத்து இணை அமைச்சர் விஜய் தணிகாசலமும் இணைந்து ஒன்ராறியோ அரசாங்கம் பொதுப் போக்குவரத்துப் பயணிகளுக்கான செலவைக் குறைப்பதற்காக 'ஒற்றைக்கட்டண' திட்டம் ஒன்றினை அறிவித்தனர். இந்த 'ஒற்றைக்கட்டண' நடைமுறை மூலம் சராசரியாக 1,600 டொலர்களை பயணிகள் சேமிப்பர். பிப்ரவரி 26, 2024 முதல், ரொறன்ரோ பொதுப்போக்குவரத்துச் சேவை (TTC) மற்றும் ரொறன்ரோ பெரும்பாகத்திலுள்ள 'கோ' (GO) போக்குவரத்துச் சேவை உட்பட இத்திட்டத்தில் பங்குபற்றும் அனைத்து சேவைகளுக்குமிடையில் பயணிக்கும் பயணிகள் ஒருமுறை மட்டும் கட்டணம் செலுத்தினால் போதும்.

நாடுகடந்த தமிழீழ அரசாங்கமும் தமிழ் மரபத்திங்கள் செயலவையும் இணைந்து 28/01/2024இல் தமிழ் மரபுத் திங்கள் நிகழ்வு வெகு சிறப்பாகவும், கோலாகலமாகவும் நடைபெற்றது. நிகழ்வின் ஆரம்பத்தில் கனடாவின் பூர்வகுடி மக்களுக்கான அங்கீகாரம் செலுத்தப்பட்டு கனேடிய மத்திய பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர், மாகாண உறுப்பினர்கள் ,மாநகர, நகர சபை உறுப்பினர்கள் மற்றும் கல்விச்சபை உறுப்பினர்கள் ,கலைஞர்கள், ஏராளமான பொது மக்கள் முன்னிலையில் கனேடிய தேசியக் கொடி ஏற்றப்பட்டு அடுத்து தமிழீழத் தேசியக் கொடி ஏற்றப்பட்டு அகவணக்கம் செலுத்தப்பட்டு மிகவும் சிறப்பாக நிகழ்வுகள் ஆரம்பமாகி தொடர்ந்து தமிழரின் மரபு இசையான பறை இசை முழங்கி சிறப்பித்தனர் ,தொடர்ந்து கனேடிய மக்கள் பிரதிநிதிகளின் உரை ,நாடுகடந்த தமிழீழ அரசாங்கப் பிரதமர் விசுவநாதன் ருத்திரகுமாரனின் உரை, தமிழ் மரபுச் செயலவை மேலாளரும் கல்விச்சபை மேலாளருமான நீதன் சண் அவர்களின் உரைகள் இடம்பெற்றன.

கடந்த 19-01-24 வெள்ளி மாலை Scarborough Metropoliton அரங்கில் நிகழ்ந்தேறிய திரு.செந்தில் குமரன் அவர்களின் தாயக மக்களுக்கான "நிவாரணம்" எனும் உயிர்காப்பு இன்னிசை மாலை " MGR 107 " மனிதநேயம் படைத்த மக்கள் வெள்ளம் அலைகடலாக ஆர்ப்பரித்து எழுந்தோடித் தளம்பிய காட்சியாய் விரிந்த காட்சி கண்கொள்ளாக் காட்சியாய் அமைந்தது.

க.வசந்தகுமாரி எழுதிய ' வரங்கலெல்லாம் தவங்களாவதில்லை.' என்ற கவிதை நூல் வெளியீட்டுவிழா 20-01-2024 அன்று கொழும்பு ஜே.ஆர். ஜெயவர்த்தன மண்டபத்தில் வெகு விமர்சையாக நடைபெற்றது. இவ்விழாவிற்கு சிரேஷ்ட ஊடகவியலாளர் சக்தி Tv நிர்வாகி கஜமுகன் தலைமை தாங்கியதோடு பிரதம அதிதியாக முன்னாள் அமைச்சர் தமிழ் முற்போக்கு கூட்டணி தலைவர் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் மனோ கனேஷன் கலந்துகொண்டதோடு நூலின் முதல் பிரதியை இலங்கை பொன்மனச்செம்மல் தாஜ்மஹான் பெற்றுகொண்டார்.

அமரர் கனகாம்பிகை கனகசுந்தரம் அவர்களின் 02ஆண்டு நினைவு நாளில் “எர் நிலம்” தொண்டமைப்பின் ஊடாக… கற்றல் உபகரணங்கள் வழங்கல் நிகழ்வு இடம்பெற்றது. யாழ்பாணம் புங்குடுதீவைப் பிறப்பிடமாகவும்,பிரான்ஸ் நாட்டை வசிப்பிடமாகவும் கொண்ட அமரர் கனகாம்பிகை கனகசுந்தரம் அவர்கள் இறைபாதமடைந்து 02ஆம் ஆண்டு நினைவு தினமான 19.01.2024 இன்று அன்னாரின் குடும்பத்தினரின் 200,000/= நிதி பங்களிப்பில் “ஏர் நிலம்”அமைப்பின் ஊடாக "கல்வியே எங்கள் மூலதனம்" எனும் தொனிப்பொருளுடன் கற்றல் உபகரணங்களும்,மதிய உணவு வழங்கும் நிகழ்வும் தாயகத்தின் முல்லைத்தீவு/ துணுக்காய் தென்னியன்குளம் அரசினர் தமிழ் கலவன் பாடசாலையில் சிறப்பாக இடம்பெற்றது….

கடந்த வெள்ளிக்கிழமை 12.01.2024 அன்று ஒன்ராறியோ மாநில சட்டசபையில் போக்குவரத்து இணை அமைச்சரும், ஸ்காபரோ ரூஜ் பார்க்கின் ஒன்ராறியோ பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினருமான விஜய் தணிகாசலம் அவர்களின் தலைமையில் தைப்பொங்கல் மற்றும் தமிழ் மரபுத் திங்கள் விழா இடம்பெற்றது. இவ்விழாவில் ஒன்ராறியோ பாராளுமன்ற அமைச்சர் மற்றும் உறுப்பினர்களான ரெய்மன்ட் சோ, அரிஸ் பபிக்கியன் மற்றும் டோன் கலகர் மேர்ஃபி ஆகியோரும் கலந்து சிறப்பித்தனர்.
